Do they need quiet areas for deep focus, dedicated spaces for meetings, or flexible breakout zones? A space that doesn't match your team's working style will create daily frustrations. Early on, I was guilty of underestimating the importance of strong internet infrastructure. Some office spaces claim to have fast Wi-Fi, but shared buildings with high occupancy can often suffer from frustratingly slow speeds. Having a backup internet provider or a dedicated connection from day one will prevent future headaches, especially if your team relies on video calls, cloud-based tools, or remote collaboration.

If you're setting up your first office space, my biggest piece of advice is to prioritize ergonomics and comfort. It's easy to get caught up in aesthetics or filling the space with furniture, but creating a workspace that supports good posture and reduces physical strain is crucial for your long-term health and productivity. Make sure you invest in a comfortable chair, a desk that suits your needs, and an ergonomic keyboard and mouse. A well-designed workspace will make a huge difference in how you feel throughout the workday.

One of the most challenging aspects of office management for me initially was figuring out the layout—specifically, how to balance individual workspaces with areas for collaboration. Organizing furniture, optimizing the space, and accommodating all the necessary technology and materials without creating clutter took some trial and error. But it's important to reassess the layout constantly and adjust it based on how the space is being used. Taking the time to thoughtfully plan and refine your office layout will pay off in the long run.
